Gretta Gin Poems

I saw black magpies play at sky
They were so joyful, flying high
Above the trees and our home -
We played here too, but that you know.
...

Your love is a standard
and casual, witty thing,
You like what is easy and safer
to take without need to think.
...

I was asleep when it was born,
Made of my fears in my own home,
Of ugly truths and lying words,
Of everything that hurt the most.
...

With clumsy hands I'm pushing on your door,
You know I'm standing here so why are you so cold?
Can't you remember times then it was ‘us' in there -
In our world, in our room we'd shared?
...

The sun had burned my bones
And light became my fear
When you were damned and gone
But I was left in here;
...

Live in a moment ‘till the moment's gone
Worship those memories then you're in bed alone,
Secure it in your chest and your embrace
And hold it tight before it gets erased

Magpies

I saw black magpies play at sky
They were so joyful, flying high
Above the trees and our home -
We played here too, but that you know.
I wondered if they thought it too -
That it's their home where they first flew
With memories so fond and warm,
That this is place there they belong?
Will they return here when they'd grown
To tell the tales of time alone,
To caress feathers of loved one's
And stay with them if given chance?

I ain't no bird but have my share
Of knowing people, so I'd say
Once soul is gone - it would not dare
To come across the old times way
