The Rose Family
The rose is a rose,
And was always a rose.
But the theory now goes
That the apple's a rose,
And the pear is, and so's
The plum, I suppose.
The dear only knows
What will next prove a rose.
You, of course, are a rose -
But were always a rose.
one of my favourite poems by my favourite english-speaking poet. tho only one i know who could write such complicated things in such a simple way :)
Indeed, only Frost has such lightness of touch. He makes the rest of us seem heavy-handed.
I say the poem's about inner beauty, where everything is as beautiful as a rose on the inside.
