Making Pottery Poem by D.N. Rebb

Making Pottery

Suitable clay, from canyon's lay
Enough water, the Lord's offer
Mix together, spite the weather
Smooth consistence, like seasoned friends
Shape the bottom, where it blossoms
Plenty of curves, like sexy girls
Create your piece, inner release
Add some color, pretty flowers
Let it air dry, patience applies
For a few days, different gaze
Make a fire, with desire
A spacious hearth, heat injects forth
Place near flames' edge, the final pledge
For a few hours, passion devours
Most intense heat, almost complete
Till wholly dry, jubilant cry
Time to seal it, a future gift
Beeswax, shellac, none of them cracked
Make watertight, new mug tonight
Guard from breaking, red one's turned pink
Do not destroy, use it, enjoy!
